THE VOYAGE

Patrikus (Peter Snr) died at the Wellington Hospital on the 1 July 1875 at the age of 101 years.

The funeral rites were performed by Father Jean Baptiste Petit-Jean, who was one of the original Marist Priests accompanying Bishop Pompallier to New Zealand.  He also built the first Catholic School at Freeman's Bay in Auckland.

Laetitia passed away at The Hutt on 27 September 1875.  She was 98 years old.  They are both buried at Mount Street Cemetery, in Wellington.

Green was Peter's valley in the sun
He lived for a hundred years and one
He lived for a hundred years and one
Daughters all 'n' sons of sons had sons
The living was hard, the work was done
And green was Peter's valley in the sun.
